§ 01 —— LAYOUTS

Five languages on offer

If you need another language or your own arrangement of the characters, send it over and we will quote separately.

Russian

JCUKEN, the most frequent request. Cyrillic alongside the Latin characters or instead of them.

Uzbek

Latin plus ў, қ, ғ, ҳ. We follow the state layout standard.

Arabic

Right to left, allowing for the letter forms. We check the artwork before applying it.

Hebrew

The full layout, with vowel points on request.

Korean

Hangul, the standard 2-set scheme.

WHAT WE WORK ON

MacBook and MacBook Pro keyboards, Windows laptops, mechanical boards with ABS and PBT keycaps, Magic Keyboard, external keyboards of any brand.

BACKLIGHTING

On backlit keys the character is cut through the top layer — light passes through the new symbol exactly as it does through the factory one.

WHAT WE WARN YOU ABOUT

The colour of the character depends on the keycap material: on light plastic the mark comes out dark, on dark plastic light. We show the exact shade on a test key before we start.

Cleaning, then a check of contrast and backlight on every key. You take it away with you.

The character will not rub off under your fingers and cannot be washed away — the beam changes the structure of the keycap itself.

§ 03 —— FREQUENT QUESTIONS

What people ask before handing over a laptop

Will the MacBook keep its warranty? −

The engraving touches only the surface of the keycaps; the casing and the electronics are never opened. Formally, though, it is an intervention in the product — if the device is under warranty the decision is yours, and we say so before the work begins.

These aren’t stickers? Won’t they wear off in a month? −

They are not stickers. The beam changes the structure of the keycap itself, so the character cannot be rubbed off by your fingers or washed away. Stickers last a couple of months; engraving lasts as long as the keyboard does.

Will the key backlight work as before? −

Yes. On backlit keys the character is cut through the top layer, and the light passes through the new symbol exactly as it does through the factory one.

Can you keep the Latin letters and add Cyrillic beside them? −

Yes. We do it either way: Cyrillic next to the Latin characters, or in place of them. We agree the layout on a mock-up before engraving.

Do I need to set anything up in the system afterwards? −

No, the engraving has nothing to do with the system. You add the keyboard layout in the settings yourself in the usual way — we only put the characters on the keys.

What if the keyboard already has Russian letters, but worn away? −

We engrave over them afresh. If the old characters were painted on and have partly come away, we will show you on a test key how the result will look.
